Legwarmers

Maybe it’s not exactly the right time of year, but Gator said she wanted something to cover her legs so I’ve made her some nice cozy legwarmers (marketplace link).

As you can see from the image they are rigged mesh made by my fair claw in Blender and also textured by me so you won’t find them anywhere else in SL. They come in one size (XS) for the smaller standard humanoid avatar.

Please try the demo to be sure they fit!

Sci Fi Con Awards

So following the somewhat popular and hilarious appearance of Borgwood Squares at the Sci-Fi Con in March, last night the sci-fi alliance had its star-studded awards ceremony. And Gator was honoured to collect two third place awards: one for best host/hostess and the other for best event (Borgwood Squares). Seeing as she doesn’t really know very many of the sci fi roleplayers, and seeing as there were so many fine events at the con, she was pretty pleased with that.

Borgwood (Tinywood) Squares of course runs every week though so please do come along on Sundays.

Gator’s Gallery @ the Sci Fi Con

The science fiction convention is open! Like last year Gator’s Gallery has a plot to showcase Daisy/Elinor’s science fiction stories. This time it’s a swamp so you might want to bring an umbrella and wellies.

I’ve also released a new special group gift to celebrate the convention: more lunchboxes and mesh framed art this time featuring a NASA JPL poster of the asteroid Ceres. This is a poster from a really stylish series issued recently so if you’re not already a member please do join the group as these are well worth picking up. Incidentally I’ve seen these public domain posters for sale elsewhere for L$250!

Once you’ve visited Gator’s swamp, checked out her e-books, toured all the jaw dropping futuristic exhibits at the rest of the con and ridden the rollercoaster finally, don’t forget Borgwood Squares is happening tomorrow. That’s Saturday 19th March, 11:30 AM SLT. The set is in place and waiting. Can’t wait, it should be a blast.

Borgwood Squares – Players Needed

The Science Fiction convention is starting soon and of course Gator’s Gallery will be there. As part of it I’ll be hosting a special edition of Tinywood Squares, renamed Borgwood Squares on Saturday 19th March at 11.30am SLT. There will be a specially redecorated set for the show including new seating suitable for biggies and tinies both. And there will be a second innovation–contestant prizes!

But of course I’m going to need players. So if you’re sure you’ll be available on that Saturday at 11.30am and want to be a contestant or one of the nine squares please send me an IM (to “TheGator”) letting me know which place you’d prefer. If you’re not sure you’ll be online at that time or if I simply get too many interested players not to fear, send me your name anyway and I’ll start a back up list.

Don’t know how to play? See the Tinywood page for everything you might wish to learn about the game. Borgwood Squares will be run in much the same way as the regular weekly game with one exception. Because this an RFL event there will be no tipping of the host, which means the contestants will receive prizes instead of linden dollar rewards. But hopefully they’ll like them just as much! In terms of monetary value I plan on the prizes being of higher value. First, there will be an e-book token for one of my Smashwords books worth US$0.99. And there will be an item from Gator’s Gallery store, most likely a painting.

As ever everyone, even audience members, will also receive the Secret Square prize. So please do come along to what could well be the daftest, and most certainly the squarest, event of the entire convention.

Hope to see you there!

Art Exhibition

The exhibition at Raglan Tree Gallery went ahead as planned last Saturday and oh my, so many people came! Some folks dropped by, stayed for a little while and then left but others stayed and stayed and danced and danced to tunes by the splendid DJ Rayray who outdid himself until we wore out the floor. Folks didn’t want to leave. People were still arriving even as those of us who had been there from the start were starting to wilt. We danced for two hours, not the one hour scheduled.

A huge gator thank you to everyone who came and everyone who bought paintings. And a huge gator thanks to DJ Rayray. It was a great night. But if you missed it not to fear, the exhibition goes on throughout February and March so if you just wanted to come see the art there’s plenty of time.

Raglan Library 2.0 – Call for Submissions

Raglan Shire 2.0 will soon be going live, and a central part of it will be the new library. I’ve been put in charge of setting it up so am working hard to get it organized. But one thing is clear: we need more books! And that means we need new writers.

So please send me, “TheGator,” anything you have to my inworld mailbox.

Stories, articles, poetry, comic strips, recipes, tutorials, knitting patterns for bobble hats, everything is needed. If in doubt, send it anyway.

There are only two rules:
1. You must own the copyright. This means you must have either written it yourself or own the rights to it.
2. Must be PG.

Obviously, tiny-themed items are particularly welcome.

HOW TO SUBMIT
You have four options:

1. Put it on a full perm notecard and send it to me, “TheGator”. You can drop notecards (but not textures or objects) in my mailbox.
If you submit this way the submission will be put in a simple L$0 buy box in the library with a fairly plain graphical texture made by me. Of course if you want to submit your own fancier book cover texture that would be very welcome. All textures need to be full perm though.

2. Put your submission on to textures, together with a texture for the book cover. Make them all full perm, drop them into a notecard and put the notecard in my mailbox. They can then be used to make a scripted Thincbook. Scripted books will be placed in the library and set to no transfer.

3. Kath McGill has offered to rent out her Thincbook printing press. So if you’re keen to make your own book, you may want to contact her and consider this option.

4. Of course if you can make your own ready-made scripted books please do submit them in whatever form you wish. As long as they work without crashing the sim! 😀

FURTHER NOTES
If you want to talk to me about an idea or need help with anything send me an IM or drop me a notecard.

If you’re a member of the Artisans Society of Raglan Shire group you may submit something for sale in the bookshop section. You can place this item yourself once I’ve seen it and approved it. A single book should be no more than one LI. The bookshop section is also the place for prims which link to a for sale non-SL-based item (eg. Amazon e-book). I have a script that will open a web browser window if you need it.

I look forward to reading your submission!
